In the photos, the athlete, who had her hair braided, was seen turning away from the camera as she spoke about her journey in a touching statement. Vonn spoke about nostalgia and reminiscing about her youth amid the Barbie trend. However, for the athlete most important lesson learned from life is that it isn’t flawless.

As she wrote, “While I love pink and Barbie makes me nostalgic for my youth, the biggest takeaway is that real life isn’t perfect.” Further, the athlete went on to say that she has worked hard for her goals and that she has her own imperfections, such as cellulite and wrinkles. But to the skier, her flaws make her who she is, as she highlighted that she doesn’t live a life pretending to be someone else on social media. The athlete ended her note by reminding her fans that their flaws are what make them special as well.

This is not the first time Vonn has been her real self on social media. The Olympic medalist has always empowered her fans with body positivity through her Instagram. While celebrating her 36th birthday, Vonn also dropped unfiltered photos in a bikini while revealing that she’s not a size zero and is completely fine with it.
