A few slip-ups earlier, and now the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races getting canceled have slowed down her pace. However, she isn’t going to give up and continues to strive more.

As Shiffrin looked to add one more win to her name at the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World 2023/24, her plans soon fell off. Because of the heavy snow, the Women’s races at St. Moritz were canceled. Despite that, Mikaela Shiffrin expressed her gratitude.

Mikaela Shiffrin expresses gratitude

The Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup has put forth a spectacle for skiing lovers since it kickstarted on October 28. However, the 6th leg of the Women’s tour ended on a displeasing note. Much to Mikaela Shiffrin’s dismay, the Women’s Super G race got canceled due to bad weather.

However, the 28-year-old stood unfazed and expressed her gratitude towards the people who have their all to make the track feasible. “Canceled…thank you to the volunteers and workers for all your efforts this weekend!”, Shiffrin wrote in a Twitter post. Although she looked distraught, much like her fans, the Olympic Champion didn’t forget to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the volunteers.

The winningest skier of all time looked to further bolster her record, and avenge her previous defeat, at the Women’s Super G on Sunday. In the first Super G on Friday, Italian skiing specialist Sofia Goggia overtook Shiffrin to claim the top spot. However, the alpine skiing GOAT soon avenged her loss, clinching her 91st World Cup victory in the process.

Mikaela Shiffrin is unmatched in slalom and giant slalom events. However, in the downhill discipline, she had managed to win only three times in the 20 starts. Come this Saturday, the Olympic gold medalist improved her record, securing her 91st World Cup victory. Mastering the turns, she defeated the downhill specialist Sofia Goggia by 0.15 seconds.

The 28-year-old continues to maintain a lead in the overall category, sitting with 195 points ahead of the Italian Federica Brignone. Although the weather is playing a spoiler, none seems to be able to deny her the record-tying 6th overall World Cup title. Can she equal the 50 year old record this season?
