At the meet, her best position, in any event, was the downhill, in which she secured the fifth place. However, Shiffrin was not in the best of head space during the time of the meet. The skier had lost her father, Jeff Shiffrin, to an accident early in 2020.

But the athlete was not over the grief of losing her father. She still had to come to terms with the loss of a person with whom she shared a close bond. After her father’s untimely demise, Shiffrin would frequently dedicate entire posts to him.

The post reads, “Wishing so much for you to still be here to celebrate… and wondering if you know how much we love you… Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Miss you always, love you most.”

The post has captured the attention of other athletes and netizens. People have shared positive comments on her post to show their support for the athlete. Moreover, the post has garnered almost 13k likes in a span of just three hours.
