Lindsey Vonn, the now-retired alpine skiing prodigy, has lived an illustrious career till she bid goodbye to the sport. The former World Cup alpine ski racer underwent several surgeries but didn’t give in to the harrows. After earning consecutive World titles in 2008, 2009, and 2010, she established herself as one of the best. Having boasted the downhill discipline as her strongest suit, the legend celebrated her special day.
After fans chimed in to celebrate Vonn’s birthday on October 18, she had a special message for her closest one. Unfortunately, in August 2022, after a year of struggles with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Linda Krohn bid adieu to the world. The shock of losing her mother didn’t sit right with the ex-skier, but it seems like she’s accepting the truth. Writing a eulogy for her favorite human, the global champ had the netizens’ eyes moistened.

Lindsey took to her Instagram handle to post some heartfelt thoughts and screenshots of old times. She wrote, “On this day in 1984 at 2:30am my mom almost died bringing me into this world.” Speaking of her late mother, she shared some adorable moments she had made with Krohn. Never failing to wish her daughters on their birthdays, Krohn’s efforts spoke volumes. “She loved writing me, and my siblings, at the exact moment we were born… which was not easy considering it was 2:30am!” Vonn said.

Emphasizing on the grief, she asserted that her birthday would never be the same in her mother’s absence. With a series of screenshots, Vonn showed off the mother-daughter bond on birthdays. Lastly, she added a quote that her mother used very often, “Today’s Reminder “. . . You don’t get to choose how you’re going to die, or when. You can only decide how you’re going to live. Now. — Joan Baez.”

Lindsey’s “I’m living my best life every day for you Mom” proved her strength and undefeatable spirit to rise higher above. Moreover, Lindsey’s list of admirers is unending. She had also received a birthday wish from a young prodigy.

Alongside some legendary posts by Dwayne Johnson and others, there was one which drew the most attention. Once, having challenged Lindsey Vonn’s expertise, the 9-year-old tennis player Phalyn Parrott wished Lindsey on her special day. She wrote, “You are not only my friend, you are my mentor and the person who motivates, inspires, and drives me to be my best. My birthday wish for you is that you achieve not only your dreams but also continue to help others achieve theirs!”

Both boasted rackets in player mode, but the smiles melted hearts. As a return gift, the ski legend shared the story with the caption, “Mentoring is a big part of what gives me joy these days. Sharing the knowledge I’ve learned in my life to help guide kids on their journey is hugely rewarding.” Even though tennis isn’t her forte, mentoring doesn’t have a sport. Besides receiving love from the world, Vonn also gives back through ‘The Lindsey Vonn Foundation’. On a mission, to anchor the journey of the vulnerable section, the star skier gives her all.
