Lindsey Vonn speaks out against Donald Trump
Vonn targeted a second Olympic gold as she headed into the Pyeongchang games but unfortunately ended with a bronze. She also had her eyes set on breaking the record of 86 world cup victories, set by Ingemar Stenmark in 1989.
Meanwhile, away from the slopes, Vonn was also willing to speak out against US politics. That year, former President Donald Trump was involved in a controversy with the NFL and NBA players. In response, all the sports fraternities showed a united front against the same. “I want to represent our country well. I don’t think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that,” said Vonn.

Incidentally, Vonn concluded her alpine skiing career with a bronze medal at the Pyeongchang Games. It was her final Olympics, but she had plans to continue racing in the World Cup for a while. However, in February 2019, Vonn retired from skiing since her knee was ‘damaged beyond repair.’

Vonn said her knee has not healed completely yet. She doesn’t have to get up and grind every day at 85mph, and it has made things easier for her, but she still wakes up in pain every day. As per Lindsey, she had to pay a price for her success but didn’t mind it. And if Vonn gets the chance, she’ll do it all again.
