The star alpine skier is famous for her relentless hard work and never give up attitude. Despite facing many adversities in the early stages of her career, she did not lose hope. Lindsey retired from skiing after a medal-winning performance at the World Championships in Sweden. She made her final performance memorable for her fans.

Lindsey Vonn mourns the death of an icon

Lindsey Vonn has revealed in multiple interviews how she is a sports enthusiast. She loves watching other sports during her free time. According to her, the spirit of sports and athletes motivates her to get better in life. Recently, taking to Instagram, Lindsey reacted to a piece of sad news. It was related to the death of the famous American ski mountaineer, Hilaree Nelson.

She expressed her grief in her Instagram stories. She captioned the story “Rip Hilaree the greatest mountaineer of our generation”. Furthermore, she added,” Cheers to all you have achieved on earth and to the mountains you’ll climb up in heaven”. The incident came as a shocker to everyone from the mountaineering fraternity. It was reported that Hilaree had gone missing while skiing down Mount Manaslu in the Himalayas with her partner Jim Morrison.

A search operation was underway immediately. It was later found that Hilaree had fallen into a crevasse while skiing down the mighty mountain. Previously a week before this news, Hilaree had shared a post on Instagram stating how she was not very confident about the mountain.

Lindsey’s skiing accident

After her debut at the age of 16, Lindsey Vonn participated in many competitions. She faced multiple injuries throughout her career but found a way to bounce back effectively. Skiing is a high-intensity sport and involves moving at a very high speed. Sometimes at such speeds, it gets difficult to control the jumps at different points on the ski course. Even the slightest mistake can lead to a terrible injury or sometimes death. A similar incident occurred with Lindsey while performing at The Alpine World Championships held in Austria.

While performing, Lindsey had a horrifying fall at the drop. Lindsey’s mother was at the event and was shocked to see her daughter’s crash. Her mother recalled it as one of the worst things that she had ever seen. Lindsey was motionless after the fall. The paramedics reached the spot in no time and took Lindsey to the hospital in a helicopter. “It’s a really fine line between glory and disaster,” said Lindsey, revealing her take on the fatal fall.
