The high jump champion who bit back injury

Gianmarco Tamberi exudes massive amounts of resilience and passion. The Italian high jump legend was in peak form in 2016. The world thought that Tamberi just had to take part in an event and the gold medal was instantly his. In 2016, he won the Banska Bystrica, Trinec, and the World Indoor Championships held in Portland.

Tamberi wasn?t just winning, he was creating national records in the high jump. Fans loudly cheered each time high jump events started and Gianmarco Tamberi took his position for his next jump. His loyal fans always knew that this wasn?t just another jump, but another gold medal.

However, to the dismay and shock of the entire world, including his competitors, Tamberi got bit by the injury bug. The unfortunate injury forced the Italian legend to sit out of the Rio Olympics.

The world terribly missed Tamberi in Brazil. However, they were sure that he was not one to sit down or fade away. Their belief never wavered, even when anticipation and a deadly virus suffocated the world in 2020. The headstrong and hardworking Tamberi returned to claim another high jump gold medal in Tokyo. Despite a year?s delay, Tamberi looked in extremely good shape. Finally, he made it. Tamberi received his first gold medal at the grandest sporting event.

While he had to share the medal with friendly rival Mustaz Barshim of Qatar, the comeback was worth it. Tamberi happily shared the stage with Barshim and celebrated his long-awaited victory. The Instagram post shared the image of his cast from Tokyo and his celebration with rivals and family. In fact, Tamberi recently triumphed over the world once again by winning the gold in the high jump at the World Athletics Championship.

Legends like Gianmarco Tamberi are built with a lot of hard work and perseverance. Several critics readily dismissed his success as sheer luck. Many even said that his win didn?t carry as much weight since he shared his gold medal. The high jump specialist, however, stomped all these claims with a 2.36-meter jump.
