The Belgian team just showed the world the true meaning of teamwork. On Saturday, the Belgian hurdling team was about to be disqualified from the European Athletics championship, as the athlete was deemed unfit. To save the team from going home, the Belgian shot putter Jolien Boumkwo decided to take one for the team.

The day was a true pinnacle of sportsmanship as the shot putter pulled a heroic act. With 13.22 points in the race, Spain emerged as the winner. But it was Jolien Boumkwo who stole the hearts of everyone. In a video, Boumkwo was seen stepping in with a smile as everybody cheered for her in the crowd.

In the video, Jolien Boumkwo was seen running 100m hurdles as she replaced the injured Anne Zagre and Hanne Class for the 400m hurdle. Despite trying to keep up with the other participants, Jolien finished the 100m race last with a time of 32.18. After completing the challenge, the athlete was clearly proud and had a broad smile on her face. The other participants also congratulated Julio Boumkwo for finishing the race as the crowd applauded the efforts of the shot putter.

In an interview with the sports star, the athlete stated, “My team is the most important thing for me.” The athlete also added, “I couldn’t let it happen to lose by one point. That’s why I considered taking part in 100m hurdles. There was no risk If I took it calmly.” One day before the race, the short runner also admitted on Instagram, “It’s no joke,” and that she is participating in the race. Eventually, Jolien Boumkwo was able to keep her team in the competition.

Boumkwo gained the respect of everyone present to witness the act. The Belgian team was able to score two points and were able to stay in the European championship. Belgium currently holds the second-last position in the championship with 159 points.
