Former Astros Star Names Yuli Gurriel, Alex Bregman in ‘Best Hitter’ Prediction for MLB 2022 Season

In the past five years, Houston Astros have emerged as one of the most successful teams in Major League Baseball. The Astros have played the World Series three times in the last five years and have also won one of them in the 2017 season. Last year, they lost it to the Atlanta Braves. But looking at their squad this year, they are surely one of the top contenders for the title.

Recently, a former Astros outfielder predicted that Astros stars, Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel will be Astros’ best hitters in the 2022 season.

Recently, writer Michael Schwab of Houstonia Magazine took to his Twitter to ask fans which Astros hitter they think will have the biggest year for the team in 2022.

Answering Schwab’s question, former Astros outfielder, Cameron Maybin, shared a photo of Yuli Gurriel and termed him as one of the best hitters. Notably, he also said that another Astros hitter, Alex Bregman, will go big this year too.

“One of the best pure hitters I’ve ever seen.. Breggy going to snap too this year too!,” tweeted Maybin.

Undoubtedly, the Houston Astros will be aiming to repeat their previous season’s performance and this time win the World Series. In recent years, they have made it to the World Series a record three times; in 2017, 2019, and 2021.

Cameron Maybin retires

Earlier this year, Cameron Maybin announced his retirement from baseball. Maybin retired after playing 15 seasons in the MLB with 11 different teams. He made his debut with the Detroit Tigers in the 2007 season and played his final game for the Houston Astros in the 2021 season. During his 15 seasons in MLB, the 34-year-old represented teams like Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Chicago Cubs, among others.
