Legendary baseball player Bartolo Colon may not be playing in Major League Baseball. But the veteran pitcher is still in the game at 48-years-old. The Dominican-American MLB legend is known for his entertaining personality and the longevity of his career.

By the time any baseball players enter the 35-40 years age group, they do not consider playing baseball as a career and take retirement. But then there is Bartolo Colon, who is still donning the game with the same enthusiasm at 48 years and setting a standard for others to follow. At this age, he might be one of the few players in baseball to still actively play the game.

Like father, like son, Colon wishes his 12-year-old son Randy Colon to become a pitcher in the future. In a recent tweet by Hector Gomez, he revealed that Colon wants his son to become a pitcher because he believes Randy does not run well.

He even said that his son reminds him of his former starting rotation mate Matt Harvey with the New York Mets. Therefore, Colon is keen to make his son a pitcher.

Colon said, “I’m trying to make him a pitcher. He likes to hit, but he doesn’t run well. The way he pitches he looks like Matt Harvey to me.”

Gomez shared a short video on his Twitter, in which Colon’s son is doing pitching practice with his father by his side. And in the coming times, if Randy succeeds as a pitcher in baseball, then not only Bartolo Colon but his fans will also be happy to see another Colon on the pitch.

It is a dream for any aspiring baseball player to play in Major League Baseball. And having an MLB career that spanned over 20 seasons speaks volumes of Bartolo Colon’s impact on baseball.

During his 22 seasons in MLB, Colon played for a total of 11 teams, including the Cleveland Guardians, LA Angels, New York Mets, Chicago White Sox, and Texas Rangers.

Bartolo Colon made his major debut with the Cleveland Guardians (then Cleveland Indians) in 1997 and played his last MLB game for Texas Rangers in the 2018 season. Having won an American League Cy Young Award in 2005, Colon was also a four-time All-Star.
