MLB team New York Yankees have appointed a new hitting coach for the 2022 season. And this time the Yankees have shown faith in young Dillon Lawson. Lawson had a quite busy offseason for himself this year. Apart from getting his new role as the hitting coach at the Yankees, he also became a father for the third time.
Lawson has been associated with the Yankees for the last three years. As the young coach was the hitting coordinator at New York’s minor league and had also led the organization’s farm system to a new height.

Now, from this season onwards, Lawson is excited to work with the senior team at the Yankee Stadium and will try to bring his ‘hit strikes hard’ philosophy to the Bronx. This is the mantra that the Yankees’ new hitting coach believes will bring results this season.

Lawson said, when we swing at strikes, we are likely to make more contact. When we make more contact, we are likely to hit the ball harder. When we make hard contact, if we can, we would like to hit it over the infield.”

Lawson is optimistic and excited about his new role. Because he believes as a hitting coach, the Yankees have got monsters and it will be amazing to work with these players.

“We have an outstanding roster. As a hitting coach, we’ve got monsters all up and down the lineup. It’s amazing to be able to work with these guys. In reality, we’re trying to keep their strengths, and then any areas where we can improve — even just about 1% — that’s going to make a big difference,” added Lawson.
Yankees did not renew Marcus Thames and P.J. Pilittere’s contracts
Having served as the Yankees’ Minor League hitting coordinator for the past three years, Lawson will replace former Yankees’ hitting coaches Marcus Thames and P.J. Pilittere. Notably, their contracts expired in last year October and the Yankees did not prefer to renew.

Before joining the Yankees, Lawson has served the Astros organization as a hitting coach in 2016 and 2018.
