During his career, Eric Chavez was an incredible player himself. In his outings with Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and Arizona Diamondbacks, Eric had clinched six gold gloves and one silver slugger award.

However, he bid goodbye to his jersey in 2014, calling quits on his playing career. Albeit, he did not leave the baseball world, choosing another path to remain connected. In 2015, Chavez became the special assistant to Yankees GM Brian Cashman. Later on, he also worked as the special assistant for Los Angeles Angels manager. Now, he will play the role of hitting coach for the New York Mets.

As the Mets have stolen the Yankees’ assistant hitting coach, it will be interesting to see some free agency war between the Mets and the Yankees post-lockout. Notably, the Mets have been aggressive, while the Yankees were slow before the lockout. Do you think the Mets can hijack players from the Yankees once transfers resume?
