Moreover, Players Association’s reaction to the MLB official’s offer is making things even worse, as it’s hinting at more delay. Reportedly, the Players Association laughed at the offer put in front of them.
MLB Officials new offer nowhere near Players’ demands
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, in the recent meeting of MLB officials and Players Association, the new offer that was put forward was not even close to the demands of players.
Jeff tweeted, ”Labor talks are over. Here’s what happened. – MLB agreed to accept parameters of a pre-arbitration bonus pool for top 30 WAR. MLBPA seeking $105M. League offered $10M.”
Further, he also revealed that after getting the $10M offer while they asked for $105M, players laughed at the situation.”The takeaway: A pre-arb bonus pool gets the best young players paid more. Players wanted it, and it’s a good thing for them. Players are laughing at the $10M offer. It’s far too low. Negotiations will change that,” Jeff tweeted.

What else was discussed in labor talks?
Apart from the pre-arbitration talks, Major League Baseball officials also made some other offers. MLB officials have offered minimum raise to $615K; however, the players want it to be $775K. Notably, they also have withdrawn their offer to eliminate salary arbitration for any group.
The Athletic writer, Evan Drellich, wrote, ”MLB proposed today to raise the minimum salary for players with 0 to 1 year of service time to $615,000. Previously had proposed $600,000. No change to 1-2 years (650k) or 2-3 (700). MLB also withdrew its proposals to eliminate salary arbitration for any group.”

Major League Baseball officials and MLBPA, not reaching a mutual agreement, not only puts a question mark on spring training but also on the whole season.
