While some players were affected by the lockout, Correa seems unbothered about the date of his contract. Notably, after another shortstop, Corey Seager grabbed a $325 million contract with the Texas Rangers, Correa was expected to be handed an even bigger one.

Carlos Correa aiming for bigger deals after the MLB lockout

Former Houston Astros star, Carlos has been linked majorly with the New York Yankees for the 2022 season. But, the MLB officials halted any further proceedings for the off-season, announcing the lockout yesterday. Notably, this is the first time in 25 years that a lockout has been initiated.

After the lockout, many top agents like Carlos Correa and Freddie Freeman are still uncertain about their future team. While it can be a disadvantage for some players, it won’t be for Carlos, as he remains in high demand.

According to Jon Heyman, Carlos has many offers on the table, but he is comfortable waiting for more. Jon revealed, ”Correa has received much interest/many offers but is comfortable waiting through the coming lockout for the right one. And he will wait. The usual big spenders and a majority of playoff teams have not spent big yet, and if the tax threshold rises, that could benefit him.”

Notably, the $5 billion worth, New York Yankees, haven’t spent a lot this off-season. However, they desperately need a shortstop for 2022, and might just end up spending a huge sum on Correa.

Carlos is also a potential third baseman for the 2022 season

Correa’s achievements as a shortstop are known to all; however, teams are also interested in acquiring him for the third baseman position. Jon Heyman tweeted, ”Correa has received interest for 3B as well as SS but naturally the 2021 NL platinum glove winner prefers to stay at SS.”
