St. Louis Cardinals failed to reach the post-season, losing the Wild Card game; however, the team’s efforts did not go in vain. Cardinals established a new MLB record as five players clinched the Gold Glove award, a feat no other franchise has won.

Notably, the St. Louis Cardinals had an incredible defense lineup in their squad for the 2021 season. Six Cardinals players were nominated for the Gold Glove award, and remarkably, five were awarded the honor on Sunday.

The Gold Glove Award is one of the most prestigious awards in MLB. The honor is given to the best defensive players in both American and National League.

While many teams won, the St. Louis Cardinals dominated the defense awards winning five Gold Glove awards. The Cardinals’ winners were first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, second baseman Tommy Edman, third baseman Nolan Arenado, center fielder Harrison Bader and left fielder Tyler O’Neill. The team secured the defense awards in the National League.

Remarkably, Nolan Arenado clinched his ninth, Goldschmidt won his fourth and Tyler O’Neill secured his second Gold Glove award.

Max Fried, Dallas Keuchel, and others who won the award

Apart from St. Louis Cardinals, some other franchise players also achieved the feat again. Chicago White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel clinched his fifth, while San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Belt secured his fourth Gold Glove.

World Series winners, Atlanta Braves star Max Fried, won his second consecutive Gold Glove award. While their World Series counterparts Houston Astros’ Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa also clinched the award.
