The highly anticipated FIBA 2023 3X3 Under 23 World Cup is currently up and running. Staunch young athletes from all around the world are showcasing their talents at this event, which started on September 27 and will run until October 1 in one of the largest cities of Poland, Lublin. Interestingly, amid the ongoing event, team Kenya has managed to hit the headlines recently.

At the fourth edition of this basketball championship, Kenyan basketball prodigy, Elisha Odhiambo, representing the men’s team in pool C, showed some incredible moves. The athlete was spotted in the air doing a Vince Carter-esque dunk for the team. Following this, an intriguing comparison between the NBA legend and the rising athlete has emerged, leaving the basketball fans in awe.

On September 28, FIBA 3X3 posted an intriguing comparison with the caption “same vibes” on X.” In the first picture, a snapshot Odhiambo who scored a basket for his team by dunking over the top of his competitor’s head was added. The second picture displayed the snapshot of NBA legend Vince Carter’s infamous dunk over the head of 7-foot-2 French player Frederic Weis at the 2000 Olympics. More so, as they shared the video of this incredible spree, FIBA penned, “He jumped over him like a Kangaroo on a pogo stick.”

This comparison comes after Kenya’s Odhiambo cleared Qatari player Bobo and jumped over him in the air to shoot the basket. However, despite the staunch move of the Kenyan athlete on the court, the team led by Tony Ocheing lost the game with a score of 15-21.

This loss comes after the Kenyans were disappointed in a heated competition against Israel. Despite the best efforts of the team that qualified for the event by securing a second place in the Algiers, Israel soared to victory with a score of 21-15.

Kenya’s women’s team faces back-to-back disappointments
