At the 2023 FIBA 3X3 Doha Challenger held from October 10-11, Jimmer Fredette, who played for the Chicago Bulls, the New York Knicks, and many other staunch teams in his over five NBA seasons, led the team Miami to secure bronze at the match. After this win, the team has qualified for the Abu Dhabi Masters.

Team Miami secures a World Tour Masters spot

On October 11, Miami secured third place on Doha soil. According to USAB, “By virtue of this the team has punched a ticket to the final.” The team will be competing in the FIBA 3X3 World Tour Masters (Abu Dhabi), which will be held from October 28–29. In the two-day Doha event, the team played four games and faced a single loss against team Ub Huishan (Serbia).

In the first semi-final match, the team secured a staunch win against Paris with a considerable score difference of 21-15. With the successful 1-point shot efforts of 2019 Pan American Games champion Kareem Maddox and Canyon Barry, Miami gained dominance with 6 points. Fredette and Travis also helped to seal the win by securing 4 and 5 points, respectively.

Apart from this win on the first day of the event, Miami stood undefeated as they won against Aachen Der Stamm and Jeddah with scores of 22-15 and 22-17, respectively. In the second game of the semi-finals, Miami faced heated competition from the champions, Ub Huishan (Serbia), as Jimmer’s team faced a loss with a score of 19-15. With the most points gained through one-pointers, Marko Brankovic and Jimmer Fredette remained the leading scorers for their team, with 8 and 6 points under their names, respectively. Nonetheless, after eight fouls and Marko Brankovic’s (6) and Dejan Majstorovic’s (6) overall effort, Miami had to face a loss at the event.
