The FIBA 3×3 men’s professional season holds an annual basketball competition that debuted in 2012. Teams from different cities across the world compete to win and advance to the Master and Final competitions. This is the premier event of the season, featuring many of the best half-court basketball stars. The year-long tour consists of 14 stops which began with the season opener in Japan. The tour will culminate in a Final to be hosted in December.

The global tournament is currently underway in Vienna, Amsterdam where the American team’s blend of experience and youth showed an unexpected brilliance. While the eyes were set on chosen NBA players, the undrafted boys pair swept the command in the recent game.

Basketball gives away season’s hidden gems

On October 6-7 in Amsterdam, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour reached the third-to-last Masters. Miami faced the home team Vienne, and America quickly took the lead and maintained it throughout the match. Day 1 was finished by Miami when Vienna’s Enis Murati missed a critical 2-point shot with 6 fouls and 17 points. The final scores of Dylan Travis and Kareem Maddox gave them the lead in the end, according to a tweet from @usab3x3.

The video showed Vienna and Miama stood at 17:20 with 6:3 fouls with one and a half minutes countdown. The closing action unfolded with Kareem’s blocked shot followed by the defensive rebound after which Dylan made the 2-point shot. The homeboys were clearly overpowered by Western flair and precisely by the undrafted duo in their NBA draft. The tweet caption said,Miami goes 2-0 to open #3x3WTAmsterdam!

Taking over the Vienna, Miami basketball stars Canyon Barry, Jimmer Fredette, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis were in attendance to build on their previous year’s success. The 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Tour not only promises intense action but also provides teams with the chance to earn points for Olympic qualification for the Paris 2024 Games. After Amsterdam, there are three more tournaments for the year-long schedule which looks like this:

  • Chengdu Masters 21-22 October
  • Abu Dhabi Masters 27-28 October
  • Asia Masters – 16-17 November
  • World Tour Final – 9-10 December

The National Olympic Committee’s top 25 national players participating in FIBA-endorsed events, will be used to determine the first three quota spots for Paris and eligibility for subsequent Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. This means that everything is on the line as the season draws to a close.
