Bitter-Sweet Day for USA at U21 World Championships: Women Advance to Quarters, Men Face Setback With Glimmer of Hope

Four US Beach Volleyball pairs were set to compete in the U21 World Championship. The pairs from the USA will be looking forward to finishing their campaigns at the top, continuing the great American beach volleyball season this year. In the women’s division, Samaya Morin/Taylor Wilson and Sally Perez/Alexa Fernandez are in charge. In the men’s division, Thomas Hurst/Gage Busey and Carson Barnes/Ayden Keeter will represent the US side.
Morin/Wilson and Hurst/Busey already started their campaign with a victory. The third day of the championship brought a mixed bag of news to the US campaign. One of the pair lost the game in the championship while the hope for the top is still alive. The setback faced by men could be the inspiration women might need.

On Day 3 of the championship, the men’s pair Hurst and Busey fell 2-1 against Acevedo and Mx from Chile. However, the hope is still alive as they face Hanni, T, and Burgman from Italy on 11th November. USAV Beach broke the news on their X, writing, “Thomas Hurst & Gage Basey lost a tough battle to 🇨🇱 that went 3 sets, falling 2-1 (21-17, 11-21, 15-10) but are still alive in the tournament. “

Meanwhile, Taylor Wilson and Samaya Morin moved to the quarter-finals. They defeated Poland’s Ciezkowska and Lunio clinching victory in both the sets by 21-16 and 21-13. They will be facing M. Salinda and B. Jidapa of Thailand in the next round on 11 November. While the women are heading to the quarter-final, the men hang by the last hope. A win is important for them against Italy. To move forward into the next round, they need to take the game seriously.

The pairs need to put more of everything in the game to make it to the finals. They would definitely wish to continue the legacy that the US Beach Volleyball team has built this season. With the championship titles claimed this season, the expectations from the beach volleyball pairs have risen.
