Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin lost her final chance at winning an individual medal today. The Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 have not been too kind to the star American alpine ski racer.
Initially, she had suffered two crashes in her main events, the slalom and the giant slalom, early in the Games. Subsequently, Shiffrin did not have the best performances, resulting in the lack of any podium finish.
Moreover, today, she received her third DNF (Did Not Finish) of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Shiffrin then took to Instagram to silence her naysayers, and she has found support from none other than Simone Biles.

Simone Biles supports Mikaela Shiffrin
Mikaela Shiffrin skied out during her combined slalom event today. Thus, she received her third DNF at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.
Moreover, this also means that Shiffrin will no longer be able to leave Beijing with an individual medal. However, there is still hope for her to win a team event medal, before the Winter Olympics end.

Sadly, her performance at the 2022 Winter Olympics has attracted a barrage of haters and critics with nothing but insults to hurl at the star ski racer. Nevertheless, Mikaela Shiffrin remains unfazed by everything and took to Twitter and Instagram to call out and silence her naysayers.
The 26-year-old expressed how she would always continue getting up and competing because she loves the sport. No matter how much the haters put her down, she would always keep getting back up.
Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time and Shiffrin’s compatriot, supported Mikaela in the comments. Expressing her empathy, Simone wrote, “I know this all too well.”

“Sorry you’re (Mikaela) experiencing this! People suck,” Biles wrote. “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” she expressed, pointing out how critics simply need a reason to complain, regardless of what one does.
Then, she asked Mikaela to “remember how AMAZING you are”. Biles then told Shiffrin that “we’re all cheering for you, proud of you, love and support you!” Finally, wishing her luck for her final event, Simone Biles asked Mikaela Shiffrin to “go kick some ass Saturday! But most importantly, embrace the moment”.
Mikaela is stubborn in the face of haters
While addressing all the negative comments she received over the past couple of weeks, Mikaela Shiffrin also expressed why she is so adamant about getting back up and continuing to compete despite her setbacks.
For Mikaela, the reason she keeps getting back up after setbacks is that she loves her sport more than anything. For Mikaela, even though “it hurts more than it feels good lately,” she comes back because the slopes she skies on feel like heaven to her.

Mikaela Shiffrin has no doubt that she is “meant to be” on the icy slopes, and thus, that is where she will be because she is “stubborn as sh*t”. Truly, some great words from a champion who isn’t afraid of a few setbacks.
