Perhaps that is what makes going back home a special moment for players. Doesn’t matter if you have won or lost, the feeling of going back home to your family is always amazing and no one knows it better than the Olympic champion Nathan Chen.

The 22-year-old figure skater shares a special bond with his mother and she deserves to be a part of every bit of his success as him. During an interview with TODAY, Nathan said, ?She?s been with me every single step of the way, and no way I would ever make it to where I am now without her support,? Chen told the hosts of ?The Today Show.?

Nathan Chen ate pizza while mom held his gold medal

His mother Hetty Wang surprised the champion with his favorite pizza when they met on ‘TODAY’ show, first time after the Beijing Winter Olympics. He was so happy to meet his mother and immediately placed his gold medal around her neck as a gesture of tribute for all her efforts.

The producer of the ‘TODAY’ show, Erin Farley, has shared a picture of Nathan eating the pizza on her official twitter handle. She captioned it, “I can confirm- @nathanwchen did eat the pizza (while mom held the Gold medal) @TODAYshow”

Nathan’s mother has been his biggest supporter

Nathan Chen gives credit for all the success he has achieved to his mother. The 22-year-old figure skater said, ?Since day one, 3 years old, I stepped on the ice, and she?s been by my side ever since.? While his mother was always confident about her son’s skills and talent. In the ‘TODAY’ show, she said, ?I basically know what he?s going to do, because most of the time I watched him practice a lot, so I know what?s going to happen.?

The Olympic champion was so happy to see his mother after almost a month and the way he described all her efforts towards him was so heartwarming to watch. However, Nathan Chen made it sure that all his mother’s effort doesn’t go in vain and brought her a gold medal from the Olympics.
