Yuzuru Hanyu is a lot more than what people saw in the men’s figure skating short program event at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. While his performance could only manage a fourth place in the event, his figure skating career is far more incredible than that. The two-time Olympic champion is perhaps the reason some people follow figure skating.

The legend might have failed in his quest to win a third consecutive Olympic gold, but his love and devotion to figure skating are unlike anyone. His performance at the exhibition gala was breathtaking. It was the ‘Ice Prince’ performing at his very best and making the crowd fall in love with him once again.

Yuzuru Hanyu performed a perfect hydroblade

The prominent highlight of Yuzuru’s gala performance was his perfect hydroblade. He swept over the ice nonchalantly, his hands touching the rink and the move looked so immaculate and beautiful. Undoubtedly, it was the best performance by the Japanese figure skater in Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.

The crowd watching the gala loved every bit of his performance, while some fans were cheering the champion from outside the Capital Indoor Stadium, holding his favorite Winnie the Pooh toys.

Despite going through the setback of losing his dream, Yuzuru was grateful for all the love and support he received in Beijing. He said, “I got 20,000 letters and messages from Chinese fans, I am so glad that I’m Yuzuru Hanyu. I am so lucky.” The champion further added, “Feelings-wise, of course, yes, I would love to skate at the Olympic Games once again.”

Although Yuzuru has made no official decision about his appearance in the next Olympics, fans would love nothing more than to see their hero performing on the Olympic ice once again.
