The Hollywood legends recently put their decades-old career battles behind them and joined to celebrate Halloween. The pictures of their bromance stormed the internet and fans couldn’t be more excited. In a recent interview, yet again, Sly wins hearts with his openness at how they gave a tough fight to one another.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone dreamt of punching each other

The host indulged Stallone in a candid chat about his relationship with Schwarzenegger. Speaking of which, he said it was unbelievable to see them both carving pumpkins together, considering the rivalry they had back in those days. To his question, whether they had any competition, Sly said, “Oh, we were so adversarial.”

Adding more detail to how they perceived one another, Sly said, “I used to dream of beating him up and he used to dream of punching me out, too.” Moreover, he didn’t shy away from accepting that it’s their nature and embraces it. Also, he acknowledged Arnie’s hard work and knack for psyching out the competition.

Sly also shares a similar personality. He described their meeting as, “It’s almost like two boxers that ends up having this trilogy.” Neither Arnie nor Sly backed out of the battle. According to him, they made every effort to overpower each other like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

A competition gets interesting only with a challenging opponent. It was certainly the case between the Expendables’ stars. “You just met your best match, and you brought out the best and worst of each other,” he recounted. Aged in the 70s, they have come past their ‘battling phase.’

Yet, Sly joked, “I’m sure there’s some subtext in there” and recounted his winning in the pumpkin contest. On the whole, he expressed delight over having an adversarial like Schwarzenegger who was instrumental in their careers’ upward trajectory.
