Flex Wheeler is one of the most respected bodybuilders across the globe. While he might’ve been able to be in the limelight and enjoy the perks of the glamor, his life has been full of hardships.
Messy childhood, financial difficulties, depression, health hazards, and accidents, he has been through it. Every time life tried to bring him down, he bounced back stronger than ever. With his determination and never give up attitude, he has achieved a lot in his life.

Wheeler’s Biggest Achievement
During an interview with bodybuilding.com, in 2019, Flex was asked what, according to him, was his greatest bodybuilding achievement. Ken’s reply was as sentimental and inspiring as his journey so far. To answer the question, Flex said that his greatest achievement stems from his personal life.

He shared that after the depth of darkness that he’s been through and is still shining brightly, that in itself is an achievement. He said, “Accomplishing all I did was a major achievement, given the obstacles I had to overcome. A kid coming from welfare, who was suicidal, and dealt with sexual abuse.”
“I think this sets a precedent for a lot of people who have to deal with one or all of those things I had to deal with: they can get a feeling that they can accomplish this too,” he added. He further added that instead of giving in to the dark side and looking down upon yourself, one should try to overcome the problems.

Born in 1965, Kenneth “Flex” Wheeler is a retired professional bodybuilder from California. Growing up in poor condition, Flex suffered child abuse and developed suicidal tendencies. During his teenage years, Wheeler began training in martial arts and soon discovered bodybuilding. With this, he found a way to turn his life around.
Flex made his debut as a professional bodybuilder in 1983. He secured his first title at the NPC Mr. California Championships in 1989. While he has nearly hit the Mr. Olympia title, Flex is a five-time Ironman Pro winner. He has also won the Arnold Classic four times.

During his career, he faced many ailments that rendered it impossible for him to continue his bodybuilding career. However, he came back as the fighter that he is.
