Bodybuilding icon Victor Martinez is a veteran bodybuilder who has competed with some of the greatest champions of his time. In 2007, the Dominican Dominator won the Arnold Classic and finished as the runner-up in that year’s Mr. Olympia against Jay Cutler. On April 11, the bodybuilding icon appeared on the Generation Iron Podcast. Martinez talked about many things including the side effects of steroid use. During the conversation, while talking about discipline and sports performance, the now-retired bodybuilder remembered the time he met NBA legend, Dennis Rodman.

According to the second Dominican bodybuilder to turn pro, he met Rodman at?“Club 11,” in Miami. One of the hosts described the club as “the most infamous place in Miami.” Martinez revealed he met Rodman and asked if the five-time NBA Championship winner wanted to “hangout.”

The bodybuilding legend just wanted to have a good time

While talking about how partying and recreational use during parties affect athletic performance, the host brought up Dennis Rodman. Dennis Rodman was among the most legendary basketballers of his generation. The host claimed that Dennis Rodman, despite being an athlete liked to party like Victor Martinez.

Martinez said that Rodman led everyone in rebounds. In fact, the NBA legend still holds that record after leading the NBA in rebounds for seven consecutive seasons. The Dominican Dominator then surprised everyone by saying he once partied with Rodman.?“I’m so happy I was able to you know get drunk with him over at Club 11,”?said Martinez.

The former Arnold Classic champion also revealed that he met Rodman at the club before the pandemic in 2020. While many people might have asked the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Awardee to click a few snaps with them, Martinez had a different idea.?“I said look Dennis I don’t want a picture… I just want to get you drunk and get bombed,”?said Martinez.?

The 49-year-old revealed that Rodman replied,?“Hell yeah let’s do it!”?to his proposal, and the pair partied till eight in the morning. However, Martinez also disclosed an important fact about his love for partying and bodybuilding.

Do partying and performance go hand-in-hand?

One of the co-hosts said that Martinez was?“one of the party bodybuilders,”?during their conversation. However, the 2007 Mr. Olympia runner-up said he didn’t party when he was about to compete in a show.?“I didn’t party and competed and performed,”?said the bodybuilding veteran.

He implied that it would be impossible to perform at his best if he partied a night before stepping on the bodybuilding stage. The host also agreed as bodybuilders maintain tight dieting and hydration protocol during competition.
