Hafthor has taken up the challenge of doing 50 reps of a 100kg bench press. His most recent update on Instagram was related to the challenge. While the bodybuilder is yet to complete the challenge, he is almost there. The strongman shared a video on his Instagram and that was enough to galvanize his followers.

Fans react to Hafthor Bjornsson doing the 50 reps challenge

Recently, Hafthor Bjornsson took to his Instagram account to share a video of him trying out the challenge. While he didn’t complete the 50 reps, he was able to hit more than 30. He shared the video with a caption promising that he’ll finish it one day. He wrote, “Well I gave it my best. Give me sometime and I’ll do 50.”

Soon after the video was uploaded, fans made their way to the comments sections to shower the bodybuilder with words of appreciation. One fan wrote, “Full Rom with your leverages makes it hell more impressive 👑.” Another commented, “Big and full reps, that’s fluid asf. A real strong man but none ever doubt about it 😂😂💪🏻💪🏻.”

One fan compared his attempt to the workout of NFL players. The fan wrote, “NFL combine tests bench press with repetitions of 225 lbs… Since it’s inception only one college football player has achieved 50 reps. It is extremely difficult.” Taking a dig at the reference, another fan posed a new challenge. He said, “Thor hitting the NFL combine when?”

Appreciating the bodybuilder’s efforts, a fifth fan wrote, “Full reps, no bouncing on the chest, no lockout rest at top, well controlled, his ROM is higher than some people’s deadlift with his 7’1″ wingspan! This is the best 100 kg for reps performance I have ever seen.”

Bjornsson’s recent activity

Apart from taking up new challenges, Bjornsson has lately been involved in other activities related to powerlifting. The Icelandic strongman recently organized the 2022 Thors powerlifting meet. The meet was live-streamed from the bodybuilder’s official account on two streaming platforms – YouTube and Twitch.

42 strength athletes attended the meet. Thor’s goal during the event was to lift a total of 1000kg. However, he fell short of it by 30 and was only able to lift 970kg. Nonetheless, the athlete was happy with his performance considering the limited preparation time he had.
