Ronnie Coleman is known as “The King” for all right reasons. Apart from Arnold Schwarzenegger, a name that even the non-sporting community relates with bodybuilding is Ronnie. He has been crowned a mass monster, weighing around 300lbs on the stage. He was the man who dared to use and quit the use of steroids and talk about it.

Coleman also gained fame for attempting jaw-dropping lifts, including an 800lb squat and 2300lb leg press. But when pushing muscles to the extreme there often arrives a moment when they may break.

This was the case with Ronnie too. Coleman had a terrible injury that caused him great agony while working out. His dedication to establishing himself led him to push his injured body to its limit. This went on for years until he finally got surgery.

Ronnie Coleman won his Mr. Olympia title while injured

In 2020, Ronnie was a guest for the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Ronnie and Joe have a great bonding and while the duo was talking about Coleman’s surgery procedures, his herniated disc injury came up. Medical professionals know how bad a disc injury can be, even causing paralysis in extreme cases.

Coleman’s eventual decline in health

Even after his series of surgeries in 2007, Ronnie was unable to get back to his former shape. His body was so broken that it needed 13 total surgeries. The procedures greatly inhibited the king’s movements. And now, sadly, he has to depend on crutches to walk.

But, Ronnie being the legend he is, never gave up. Instead, he is still in quite a good shape and works out however he can. He also runs his youtube channel and collaborates with other physique athletes.
