This was the case with Ronnie too. Coleman had a terrible injury that caused him great agony while working out. His dedication to establishing himself led him to push his injured body to its limit. This went on for years until he finally got surgery.

In 2020, Ronnie was a guest for the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Ronnie and Joe have a great bonding and while the duo was talking about Coleman’s surgery procedures, his herniated disc injury came up. Medical professionals know how bad a disc injury can be, even causing paralysis in extreme cases.
But, for Ronnie, his passion topped his pain. Coleman injured his spine in 1996, in midst of a session. This ex Mr. Olympia narrated, “There was a loud crunching sound… but the athlete in you is like, ‘Let’s go on.'”

Coleman’s eventual decline in health
Even after his series of surgeries in 2007, Ronnie was unable to get back to his former shape. His body was so broken that it needed 13 total surgeries. The procedures greatly inhibited the king’s movements. And now, sadly, he has to depend on crutches to walk.

But, Ronnie being the legend he is, never gave up. Instead, he is still in quite a good shape and works out however he can. He also runs his youtube channel and collaborates with other physique athletes.
