Is he playing the 2023 world championship or not?
Amidst all the hints by the world chess champion about his retirement, the chess fans are screaming just one question: Is it over? However, just like in chess, Carlsen has been working in mysteries here as well. Once again, he has broached the subject of retirement in his subtle manner. He said, “I have to admit that there have been times after the match that I had regrets about what I said after the match. Why didn’t I just make it simple and say that I am done?”
Carlsen once again spoke about why he is unlikely to play another World Championship match: “I wanted to quit while on top, and it’s clearly what’s most likely to happen, but who knows.”https://t.co/OBodcEoVYf pic.twitter.com/xlntISdUHj

Still playing his riddles, Carlsen further added, “I wanted to quit while on top, and it’s clearly what’s most likely to happen, but who knows. I have changed opinions before, but when I have the same feeling for too long, it rarely changes back. So no, I am not closer to playing a title match than I was after the World Championship.”
