The murky details

In 2015, Lance Armstrong and his then-future-wife Anna Hansen got into an accident. The incident occurred after Armstrong and Anna left a charity event they had attended in Aspen. After driving too fast on icy roads, their car side-swiped two other parked vehicles. They caused damage to all cars involved. Fortunately, neither Armstrong nor Anna remained unharmed in the accident.

After the crash, a resident came out to check out the source of the loud crash. He told the police he saw a woman who approached him after the accident and apologized. Police later identified the woman to be Anna. Hansen said she was behind the steering wheel when the car skidded off the street and hit the two parked cars.

She also clarified why she was driving. She said Armstrong had drunk “a little” at the charity event. However, police cross-checked with the valet at the charity venue. The valet said Armstrong was driving when the couple left the venue. Anna later told the police she took the blame because the couple didn’t want publicity.
