Beautiful Mother-Son Duo Runs an Insane Marathon Time and Gets Compared to Lance Armstrong’s Feat From Back in His Almost Heyday

Lance Armstrong completely dominated cycling sports for years. He was highly competitive and skillful. But his conviction in a drug case stripped everything away from him. However, he was retired till then. After winning the seventh Tour de France Title, Lance announced his retirement in 2005. He further went on for a new venture.
In 2006, Lance Armstrong started running in the marathon and ran his first in New York. He set his personal best by finishing in 2 hours, 46 minutes, and 43 seconds. Lance gave their fans another reason for cheering in joy. However, his record was almost broken by a mother-son duo.

Mom-Son duo created history
On 8th November 2021, Spanish athlete Eric Domingo Roldan did something no one could have imagined. He decided to participate in a marathon with his mother, who couldn’t even walk properly. Eric’s mother, Silvia, was suffering from multiple sclerosis. Eric decided to put her in a wheelchair and participate in a marathon. He wanted to raise awareness and money for multiple sclerosis charity.

He told the runner’s world, ” I thought it would be a good challenge for both me and my mom because she is facing challenges since she was a child“. However, they both didn’t just participate but broke the world record for the fastest marathon pushing a wheelchair.

They crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 28 seconds and set a new world record. The previous world record stood at 2:58:40. “It was a dream come true,” said Eric. He added his mom was the motivation behind this unreal achievement. “ I just want to hug my mom and tell her we did it,” he mentioned.
Drug charges took away all credits from Lance Armstrong

The time taken by the mom-son duo felt nearly 6 minutes shorter than Lance Armstrong. Lance participated in multiple marathons from 2006 to 2008, long before his doping was exposed and he fell from grace, losing his seven Tour de France titles. However, the drug charges made people doubt Armstrong’s performance in marathons, too.

Lance Armstrong confessed to consuming performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling years. The confession came in 2013, six years after his retirement, and it made fans doubt every achievement of his life and not just his cycling heydays. In 2016, his ban was partially lifted. He can participate in non-cycling events now.
