However, the hope is still alive in the hearts of fans as Doug Gordon’s daughter, following the footprints of her dad, will be competing in the same sport. However, how did Doug Gordon accomplish historical achievement right before retirement?

Triumph amidst adversity for Doug Gordon in an inspiring victory 

Doug Gordon, the first Lucas Oil series driver, made a significant achievement in the recent NHRA Drag racing championship. In the second round at the Texa NHRA Fall Nationals, the driver secured a world championship title. Eventually, he added another world championship title to his collection.

In an Instagram post by Doug Gordon, he captioned, “ All I can say is wow! This was a dream to finish my final season at the top, and it came true. We knew beating the Killer B’s would be a feat. Just so lucky to race as a family like we do and this tops it off”. Although the race featured intense competition, Gordon was able to clinch the top spot by defeating Killer B.

However, this is only one achievement he has on his resume for the year 2023. He emerged victorious at the 2023 Lucas Oil NHRA National at Brainerd International Raceway and the Top alcohol funny car class world championship. Moreover, his recent win at the Top Alcohol Funny Car class tournament marked his fourth consecutive national event win. Unfortunately, the racing world will no longer be able to enjoy the excitement of witnessing his performances, as he has already decided to retire after the World Championships in 2023.

Biding Farewell to Racing Soon

Unfortunately, the legacy of Doug Gordon’s impressive wins throughout the year will be ending soon. However, the legendary driver bids farewell with not only one but four consecutive wins this year. In addition, he also added a third consecutive world championship title to his resume before getting retired.

In an exclusive interview with NHRA, Doug Gordon said, “For me and my family the drag racing is everything”. Throughout the tournament, Doug’s family witnessed and motivated the prodigy. Meanwhile, Doug announced his intentions to bid farewell as CEO of Waterstone Financial, Inc. back on July 25, 2023.
