Three weeks ago, a typical day at the Gymkhana Equestrian event in Prather, California, turned into a nightmare for the New family. Visiting for a casual outing with their daughter, the family had no clue of what was about to happen. Little did they know about the devastation behind their adventure.

As the bond between animals and humans sometimes takes an unscripted turn, the New Family’s fresh affairs turn out to be a life-threatening incident. Their 13-year-old daughter got seriously injured as she was to take the horse out for a ride. The ordeal was so intense, that it left the young equestrian in a coma. And as she is recovering, medical bills are a major concern for her parents.

The financial impact of the equestrian adventure

The fine line of happiness rose as Lily New, the 13-year-old equestrian came back from a coma. As per the news covered by Fox26News, Lily, after waking up after 12 of unconsciousness, still thinks of it as a dream. “She still thinks she’s in a dream state,” said Shany New, Lily’s father. “There’s a lot of unknowns right now. We’re just taking it day by day.”

The New Family is having a hard time dealing with the medical bills. “Bills are piling up. I’m having to put a lot of money every day into fuel. I’m filling up that truck,” said New.

I have to fill it up every three days when I go down there.” Analyzing the family’s financial strain to pay off medical bills, fundraising has also been initiated by GoFundMe, humbly asking anyone interested to donate to the good cause here.

The uncanny: How it happened

As her parents describe, Lily started horseriding at the early age of 10 and has loved horses ever since. It was a regular day for her as she was to ride the horse for the Gymkhana Equestrian when her horse got spooked. The horse got aberrant and dragged Lily for about a mile with her head bashing the concrete surface.

Despite the worst-case scenario, she luckily had her helmet tucked to her head. The wreckage of the impact could be imagined as her skull being fractured and leaving her eardrum perforated. She was taken care of by her parents throughout the adversity and is finally out of danger. She is conscious now after the 12 days of coma.
