Equestrian journey of a young Kentucky-bred

Vegas Magic, a Grade 2-winning horse that will compete at the iconic Monmouth Oaks on Saturday, was warmly received in trainer Kelly Breen’s facility. Just ten days since her arrival from the West Coast, the famous $250,000 Grade 3 race awaits her East Coast debut. At 3, the young Champ’s work commitments have earned her a reputation from six races. Breen quips that shipped Vegas Magic “has dual citizenship now,” in an article by Paulick report.

The daughter of former Champion American Thoroughbred racehorse Good Magic is doing well under the care of not one, but two trainers. Her California-based trainer Doug O’Neill agreed with his friend Breen, who defines her as a “classy filly.” “We’re just trying to run her against 3-year-olds now,” Neill remarked. Together, they set out to support Vegas Magic in achieving her full potential.

Although he isn’t sure if she should stay in the West, Breen, the racetrack’s three-time top trainer, is eager to work with the thoroughbred. Currently, focused training is underway for Oak’s victory with the goal of making her run longer and faster. Equestrian boasts his homebred wins

Vegas Magic is fresh off her season-opening win finishing sixth in the Grade 2 Lady M Stakes at Los Alamitos on July 4. She began her career at age 2 with three straight wins out, one of which was a victory in the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar. She also finished first in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar after placing fourth in the Grade 1 TVG.com Debutante. In just three years, she added her name to the California race tallies while competing away from home barn similar to the most recent Oak’s race.

In contrast to the East trainer’s desire for more starts, the West trainer wants to add just one Grade 3 race this year. In the end, O’Neill said, “In this business, you’re concerned with everything,” as he wished his horse luck.
