Grand Oaks Resort is located in the most scenic places of Floride. It is heaven for equestrian lovers with world-class facilities and amenities. It was considered one of the premier destinations for the equestrian event around the world. But, now that seems to be the part of history. The resort has seen a decline in horse activities since the emergence of the World Equestrian Center at Ocala.

A new business model was presented to the Lady Lake Commission by LPG Urban and Regional Planners. The plan is to build a trailer park that contains 795 manufactured homes lot for needed families or workforce. This shift in the business model is to revive the lost income. As the news became public, the neighboring equestrian community felt furious and clashed with the commissioners.

The equestrian community registered its protest

Grand Oaks Resort’s green landscape is famous for carriage riding and equestrian events. According to Village News, the neighboring equestrian community happily enjoyed the facility and its offerings. After the news broke about the proposed plan for the equestrian resort made them angry and uncomfortable. They were shocked by the news and were caught completely off guard. Renee Custer, who is a resident of Kendra Lane said, “I will be extremely angry if they put a trailer park in there. That is why we are pleading to you all to not let this happen“. At this time, she remembered Gloria Austin and praised her work for establishing the Florida Carriage Museum at Grand Oaks.

Ed Wise another neighbor who resides at Marion County Road was born and raised in the area. He mentioned that he and his neighbors the new plan was an utter surprise. He argued that the resort does not have any common border with the town, so how they can annex it into the town?

His wife raised questions about the scheme of manufactured homes and suggested that it would not serve its purpose. All of these protest is for the resort that holds in itself the ambiance which is a fusion of nature, equestrian entertainment, and modern luxury amenities.
