US Equestrian Reveals 2023 Prestigious Competition and Training Grant Recipients

In the United States, the Equestrian Federation is the governing body of equestrian sports in the country. It is responsible for conducting domestic events, training, and selection of athletes for both domestic and international events. In its work, they support athletes in competition, training, education, travel, and other form that help them ease their challenge.

For this, they have various programs and grants to support athletes of every level and event. They also work in collaboration with different organizations like the United States Equestrian Team Foundation in this regard. Recently, the US equestrian has revealed the recipients of the national grant provided by the foundation for the year 2023.

According to Eventing Nation, the recipients of the famed Jacqueline B. Mars National Competition and Training Grant for the year 2023 have been revealed by the US equestrian. The grand awards are provided by the United States Equestrian Team Foundation. This grant award is solely funded by the foundation’s honorary trustee Jacqueline B. Mars. The recipients of this year’s grant are James Alliston with his two horses Nemesis and Karma and Liz Halliday with her horse Cooley Moonshine.

The purpose of such a grant is to provide assistance to those athletes who prepare and attend competitions that are held more than 1500 miles from their home base. Alliston who is a native of San Ramon, California, received a grant for his participation at the 2023 Land Rover Kentucky, a three-day event presented by  MARS Equestrian CCI5*-L. At the event he rode, his Canadian Warmblood gelding Nemesis, in the horse’s first  CCI5*-L and finished in the 20th position.

Alliston also received a grant for his participation with the US Eventing team at for FEI Nations Cup in the Netherlands where he will ride Oldenburg mare Karma. Liz Halliday the native of Lexington, Kentucky, received a grant for his participation in The Event at Rebecca Farm riding Cooley Moonshine. The pair had also finished second at the 2019 FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championship.  With the help of such grants athletes like Alliston and Halliday can continue their dream and pursue their passion.

Jacqueline B. Mars National Competition and Training Grant is provided every year for both domestic and international training and competition. The grant is curated for those athletes and horse pairs who are progressing towards a pre-elite or elite program.  It is also provided to eventing athletes on the recommendation of USEF Eventing.

The athletes should have an impressive record and potential to represent the country in the future at the international level. The recipients have gotten their training and competition schedule pre-approved by the Eventing Chef Equipe
