Charlotte Dujardin delivered a phenomenal performance at an equestrian event
The European Championships came down between two iconic legends Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin. The British team, Dujardin and veteran Gareth Hughes have attained 59 championship medals and now after this win on 7th September 2023, they pushed the count to 60.
Sixteen nations sent forward their 32 of Europe’s best combinations for the final showdown. Owning the field, Great Britain held the lead on Day One of the competition. The scores that day went with Hester on New Mount Fame at 78.540% and Hughes on his veteran partner Classic Briolinca with a score of 74.565%.
Dujardin gave a phenomenal finish on day two. She delivered her personal best score which got the team gold, and this is Britain’s first Gold after London 2012. She and her equine Glamourdale had to score more than 78.800% to nab the gold. The British rider showed immense talent for her horse. And even after a small interruption in the final piaffe, they managed to score a personal best of 81.258% clearly declaring Britain’s win.

She posted on her Facebook account about her incredible win and her equine. The caption read, “A bronze medal with a horse that has so much more to come. Didn’t expect this result yesterday making me even more proud of Pete.” Although the finish was beyond great, however, the start of the European Championships did not go well for new mom Dujardin.

The event ended perfectly, but the initial stage was not ideal for Dujardin. Her equine Pete also called Imhotep got travel sick. She faced complications getting to the venue which made them travel for 19 hours and Pete had never travelled that far. Pete further expressed, “He arrived with travel sickness but we have a great team of vets that helped so thankfully he was fine.”

She added, “It’s been a bit of an emotional roller-coaster for me this week.” However, these mishaps did not stop her from performing nor did Pete stop after his situation. The win she attained made everything go away.
