Not only does 27-year-old Jennifer Gates rule the show-jumping arena, but is a shining example of multitasking; equally dedicated to both her personal and professional lives. Currently, the heiress to the Microsoft empire juggles her medicine study with new mom duties with her showjumping and equestrian work at the co-owned Evergate Stables.

In a recent interview, she shared her mindset behind her exceptional time management abilities and even spoke about her favorite equine companion. While speaking on the topic, she also talked about having her husband share the burden in the barn.

Jennifer Gates goes candid over managing her horses

The hosts of ‘The Horse Girls Podcast’ asked Jenn about her new horse during a conversation inquiring, “I know also that you got a new horse, so that’s so exciting to know about,” the host asked. How did you choose him?”  Speaking about the selection process and the wonderful relationship, she replied, “I found him through my trainer Harry smoulders um who helped me when I was riding full-time,” further sharing that he still helps sometimes.

Gates added, “his(horse’s) name is Paris I love that great balance great energy.” The host then posed another question: “Is he(her horse) more on the stronger side, or what’s his temperament?” She remarked, “He’s pretty easy-going, he’s sharp and careful, but not too sharp or too careful.”

When asked how she managed to balance her many roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, medical student, and equestrian, Jenn said: “It sounds like a lot of roles, but you can’t do it all at once in reality. It all comes down to deciding what matters most to you at any given moment and concentrating solely on that one item,” she highlighted. A sweet account about her husband sharing similar passion for the sport stood out in the video.

The love story made in the arena

After their first encounter, their friendship developed when Nayel Nassar helped Jennifer adjust to Stanford University by acting as a mentor and support system. A few years later, when they were both single, their paths crossed again, leading to a relationship that went beyond their mutual love of equestrianism. The hosts also expressed how remarkable it was that they were both riders and that they went to the same college.

Given how uncommon it is to find a life partner in the equestrian community, the hosts inquired about the Stanford alumnus’ experience. Jenn candidly confessed, “I got really lucky,” reflecting on her good fortune. “The good ones are few and far between unfortunately,” she noted further recounting their first encounter at the Thunderbird horse show, where they were both competing in the Amateur 30 class.
