Lalwa May, a formidable equestrian, proudly represents Australia

During an interview with ABC Radio Darwin, Lalwa May revealed her lifestyle. With nine years of riding experience, she has honed her skills and become a formidable equestrian. As a member of the Australian team, Lalwa May will be competing against representatives from 26 nations in the prestigious Generali Open de France tournament, held from July 25-27.

When asked how she got into showjumping Lalwa May replied, “I love the adrenalin and making the jumps. I just love it. It’s my favorite thing to do and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

In the interview, Lalwa May expressed pride in representing her country, “I feel extremely privileged and very proud to represent Australia, I couldn’t be happier, I just hope this…. me representing Australia, encourages other indigenous kids to get into riding, because there aren’t many of us in the sport.” Describing her schedule, Lalwa May emphasized her daily commitment to riding, with regular training and weekend competitions.

However, she also highlighted the importance of her own fitness by dedicating 4-5 days a week to the gym. Recognizing the unique partnership with her horse, Lalwa May emphasized the need for mutual understanding and trust, as they work together as a team despite the independent nature of the animal.
