The Golden Gate Field final season will be closing in the fall season of 2023 at Berkeley. Last month, the animal rights activist made an announcement regarding the closure of the tracks. One of the major reasons for this shutdown was the frequent deaths of horses on the equestrian track. This year, the track recorded its ninth horse death on 24 August.

The closure of Golden Gate Fields to save equines

The area has come under a pernicious state in recent years to report such frequent horse deaths. To hear the details about it, Fox KTVU reached out to Golden Gates Field but never received a response. However, the owner of Golden Gates Field, the Stronach Group, said they will discontinue horse racing on the track by the end of the year. But, the Stop Blood Sports organization made a bold speculation and declared that the Golden Gates Field is among the top 5 deadliest racetracks in the nation. It is the second life-threatening racetrack in the state.

Samatha Faye, a member of Stop Blood Sports asserted, “Unfortunately for this horse, Golden Gate Fields didn’t close soon enough. Golden Gate Fields will kill more horses up to their very final race. It is the nature of the industry.” Not just Samantha, but the Berkeley residents are also claiming that the Golden Gates should be shut down at the soonest.
