The trick to becoming a super athlete is to just focus on the process and not think about the result. In her brief career so far, the 16-year-old figure skater Alysa Liu has understood that every great athlete is a sum total of dedicated continuous efforts over a long period. She never drifted from all the hard work and eventually, it has paid off.

While Beijing Winter Olympics was not very happening for Alysa, she did an amazing job in her debut World Figure Skating Championship in France. It was a proud moment for the 16-year-old American figure skater as she won her first world championship medal. However, her entire focus was not on the medal but was on her performance.

Alysa Liu was shocked after winning bronze at the World Figure Skating Championships

Adapting to the senior competitions was not easy for the youngest US national champion. While she has always been deserving, she had certain doubts in her mind before the world championships. Nevertheless, she performed as per her standards and brought home a bronze medal. After the event, Alysa said, “I came into this competition not thinking about medals, just wanting to do good programs for myself.”

She further added“When I saw I had medaled, I didn’t believe it. I don’t know how I got motivation back. I have no idea how I got to this point.”

Future of American figure skating

There’s certainly no doubt that Alysa is a prodigious young talent. Team USA hadn’t seen any world championship medal since Ashley Wagner’s silver in 2016. However, young Alysa ended that prolonged wait with her exquisite performance in France.
