The Pandemic Era has been cruel to one and all. The world of sports took a major hit as well, since it brought almost all operations to a halt. In nearly 2 years, it cost U.S. junior ice dancers Oona Brown and Gage Brown some of their biggest competition opportunities this season.

But, as fate would have it, the brother-sister duo will have one more opportunity to compete at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2022, and they are ready to give it their all.

The Junior Figure Skating Championship will take place in Tallinn, Estonia from the 13th to the 17th of April. The Browns, who opened this season with a victory at Dallas Cannon Classic last July, are looking to carry the momentum and end the season on a high.

The Browns then proceeded to compete at two Junior Grand Prix events in Courchevel, France, and Linz, Austria, where they won Gold and Silver, respectively.

They set their rhythm dance to the 1980s rap hit “How Ya Like Me Now” by Kool Moe Dee, whilst for their free dance, the Browns chose a Muse medley.

Gage Brown said that while they were preparing for the Junior Grand Prix Final, they made a significant number of changes that no one has seen. After being left disappointed at the cancellation of the Final in December, the brother-sister duo was left shattered as they tested positive for Covid-19 in January. This meant that they had to pull out from the Bavarian open. However, watching the ice dance events at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing helped boost their motivation.

The duo was introduced to skating back in 2009 when they started taking lessons. Oona was the first one to skate, with Gage starting a year later. After two years of competitive skating, they paired up and joined ice skating. The duo looks up to Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron as well as Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. However, the first pair that really inspired them in ice dance were Meryl Davis and Charlie White.
