After winning his first Olympic Gold medal, Nathan Chen has the world at his feet. Since his disappointing performance at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Chen has turned the wheel and has dominated the ice whenever he’s taken center stage.

After all of his success, Nathan went on tour with the ‘Stars on Ice’ event and left the audience mesmerized.

25 years ago, Sharon Cohen founded the ‘Figure Skating in Harlem’ Organization, which many found “pointless” at the time. But today, the organization celebrates its 25th anniversary and boasts a success story built on academics and social growth. They celebrated the important milestone with a Gala event.

The organization’s primary goal is to help girls from various racial and ethnic backgrounds grow in leadership, confidence, and academic success. It also combines the artistic discipline of figure skating with the power of education “to build champions in life.”

American Figure skater Nathan Chen, was among the people who were honored during the event. An Instagram fan page of Chen’s posted a clip from the gala on the social media platform.

In the video, we can see American Fashion Designer Vera Wang handing the award over to Nathan. After thanking the organization for inviting him, Chen said he couldn’t believe he was up on that stage after so many inspiring individuals.

“Getting this award from figure skating in Harlem is such an honor I first got involved with this wonderful organization in 2017 and I’ve been so inspired by the community you have all built here,” he added.

It is indeed wonderful to see them do such great work and honor the people for their achievements.

Elton John gave a shout-out to Nathan

Let’s be honest, we all still remember Nathan’s iconic performance to Elton’s ‘Rocketman’, which won him the Olympic gold. Chen has since revealed his fandom for one of the all-time greats.

During a live concert, Elton gave Nathan a shout-out, which made the figure skater’s joy even more profound.

Elton said that he was incredibly honored that Chen chose his song. In reaction, Nathan just couldn’t stop showing his happiness as he had a huge smile on his face.

Undoubtedly, it was a moment Chen will never forget because, after all, Sir Elton John called out his name in the middle of a concert!
