While the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 was nothing short of a nightmare for him, now, he has even lost his chance to take part in the World figure skating Championship because of an injury. He was injured during his final performance at the Olympics, but nonetheless, he gave it his all while striving for glory.

Yuzuru Hanyu was the top favorite going into the Beijing Winter Olympics. However, his performance could only offer him a fourth position in the men’s figure skating short program. Thus, shattering his dream of winning a third consecutive Olympic gold. As for now, Yuzuru is recovering from his ankle injury and taking the much-needed rest. And while we miss out on his heroics, we more than make up for it in this throwback Thursday episode.

A coach in the making

In what is the perfect blast from the past, the 27-year-old Japanese sensation can be seen adorably teaching little figure skaters the key aspects of the sport. Dating back to 2017, the video shows Hanyu giving instructions to the kids, while the kids are looking at the Olympic champion in sheer admiration.

It appears the figure skating legend has all the qualities to be an excellent coach, and that comes as no surprise, given that he is the best figure skater in the world. Post-retirement, he can surely consider coaching as a professional career.

Yuzuru Hanyu ruled out from the World Figure Skating Championship

After the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 came another setback for the figure skating fans, when Yuzuru Hanyu withdrew his name from the World Figure Skating Championship. The Japanese figure skater had injured his ankle badly in the Olympics. In fact, he performed in the men’s figure skating short program finals while injured.

Since Yuzuru is already out of the championship, Nathan Chen becomes a clear favorite for winning his fourth world championship title. However, fans would be disappointed about not being able to witness another figure skating battle between the two best figure skaters in the world.
