However, because of the Russian figure skater, Kamila Valieva’s doping controversy in the Winter Olympics, the winners of the figure skating team event were denied their medal ceremony.

Nathan on not getting the Silver medal

The 22-year-old Olympic champion Nathan Chen is a little annoyed after not receiving his silver medal in the Olympics. He said,I mean, we did our best. We tried to fight for our case. And we wanted that medal. I know how much it meant to a lot of the rest of our teammates, and definitely to me, as well.”

Winning at the Olympics is the most prestigious moment for every athlete competing in the games and Nathan Chen understands it more than anyone. He further added, “At the end of the day, there?s only so much that we can do. But we certainly wanted to make ourselves clear?that we wanted to have the ceremony, that we thought that we deserved a ceremony.”

Kamila Valieva doping controversy

The 15-year-old Russian figure skater, Kamila Valieva, was tested positive for a heart medication banned in sports because of its performance-enhancing qualities. However, in her defense, Kamila argued that the positive dope test resulted from a mixup with her grandfather’s heart medication. The test was done on December 25, 2021, and the report came after she has already performed in the figure skating team event.

After listening to everything, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) allowed her to compete in the Beijing Olympics. However, her finishing at the top of the podium meant that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not hold the medal ceremony for the winners of the figure skating team event.
