The vault remains a mystical routine, pushing another gymnast to withdraw at the global event. Making her World Gymnastics Championship debut, a Romanian teen gymnast entered the mats for today’s qualifying rounds. However, after half of the day’s event concluded, the elite opted out from her skilled exercise mid-apparatus-run. Did she score based on her actions, or did she redo the routine?

This weekend marked the opening day of the senior women’s World Gymnastics Championships qualifying rounds in Antwerp, Belgium. Romania-born Sabrina Maneca-Voinea arrived at the international site with high aspirations of restoring her country’s podium finishes at international competitions. The 16-year-old delivered a terrific floor routine before fleeing from the vault exercise and returning for the balance beam.

Gymnastics prodigy steps down from vault

An update posted by @ILoovEnglish on Twitter showed what happened during her vault captioned, Sabrina Voinea about to go on her vault? And didn’t go? Mental block? What happened?

The video shows Voinea donning white bedazzled leotard hair tied in a bun running slowly at first, then walking past the table. Later, she climbed back on the podium only to leave the mats again. The post added, “Scores say DNS”. While there were no unsteady moments in her previous routine, everything appeared to be well for the gymnast, who now left the topic open to interpretation.

In her first routine, the floor, she did a full-twisting double layout with a smooth landing. Then she landed just on the edge of the line like a seasoned gymnast taking 13.666 points. Missed her vault and returned after on the balance beam, displaying a fantastic BHS layout, front aerial, and side aerial. The 16-year-old looked excited nailing the double tuck that earned her 13.666 points. What is at stake for Romania’s potential star to deliver an almost promising performance?

Romanian Gymnastics hopes with newcomers

Romania failed to qualify a women’s team for the last two Olympics, despite their impressive track record of winning team events in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004. In her first year as a senior, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea is a promising name for the team who already claimed three golds on floor exercise this year.

As a junior, the gymnast put up an excellent display in vault exercise taking four golds in two years before becoming an elite.?Voinea can still qualify her team in Belgium, having already drawn attention at the?Doha World Cup winning two gold medals. With her competence, the team is placing high hopes to qualify for Paris 2024.
