Suni Lee Will Finally Reunite With Her Former Olympic Team But as Rivals at the NCAA Championships

When Suni Lee won the all-around medal at the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020, many questioned her participation and performance. This took a toll on Suni. In addition, she was under a lot of mental stress and pressure. After the Olympics, when she took part in the reality show Dancing With The Stars, she openly talked about how the Olympic culture really pressurized her. So much so that she forgot to have fun while doing her best.

However, when she returned to college, the NCAA introduced her to a different world. Here, Suni Lee found her own family. It seemed like everyone was having fun while also performing their best. Notably, she was not alone here; she had her team.

This encouraged Lee to put on back-to-back impressive performances. She achieved multiple perfect scores, a first in the NCAA. As the National Championships draw closer now, Lee is looking forward to meeting her Olympic team once again.

Suni Lee and the Olympic band getting back together

Lee has successfully led the Auburn team into the finals of the NCAA Championships; a first since 2016. Here they will face off with many other universities like Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, and more.

Moreover, Lee will also get to meet her Olympic team members here. Tokyo Olympians, Jade Carey, and Jordan Chiles have both qualified for the NCAA as individual contenders.

At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Jade Carey was the floor exercise champion. Meanwhile, Chiles herself is an Olympic silver medalist. In addition, Grace McCallum will also be there, representing the University of Utah.

However, two-star members of the US Team who went to Tokyo won’t be there at the NCAA Championships; They are Simone Biles and Mykayla Skinner. Skinner has retired from elite gymnastics, while Simone Biles is on a break from the sport.

The Championships will be interesting to watch because Suni Lee will face off her own Olympic team. While all of them are exceptionally good gymnasts, it is Suni Lee who has overcome all the odds and proved herself as the new queen of gymnastics.

Suni Lee’s perfect 10

It is true that the Tigers had a rough start at the NCAA. However, this time there was one member of the Auburn Tigers who led them to back-to-back wins. Suni Lee scored yet another 10 to fix Auburn’s place at the Championships.

Notably, this is her 5th perfect score this season; a feat hardly achieved by any other gymnast. On Friday, Lee scored a perfect 10 on the balance beam. This helped Auburn make its way into the championships.

The Championships will begin on April 14th and will end on April 16th. The top 8 teams will compete at the Championships, with several individual competitors.
