The 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Championship evening for OU was a bitter pill to swallow. The two-time defending champions, poised for a three-peat, faced unexpected challenges, resulting in a disappointing performance. Despite a strong start on vaults, the Sooners faltered, posting their lowest score on the event in over a decade. Sophomore Faith Torrez’s unexpected fall set the tone, followed by stumbles from junior Jordan Bowers and senior Katherine LeVasseur. It continued on the beam, sealing OU’s fate. Fans Celebrate a New Beginning

One fan commented, “I’m so glad the transfer portal is normalizing this. With some teams having such depth, I love that girls can try out their absolute dream program…but then have options if they end up wanting something different than they did as juniors in HS. I hope she’s happy and successful!”

To which another fan exclaimed, “She’ll definitely be making the beam lineups there. Happy for her! The list goes on when the third user penned,“Best of both worlds this way.” This adds more woes to Oklahoma’s once-glorifying gymnastics program. It has won six NCAA team titles in the last decade, including back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023. The program has scored no lower than 197.7750 all season.

However, on 18th April, first, the vault squad of Oklahoma faltered with a score of just 48.325. They came back heavily in the bar routine picking a respectable 49.6625. But then once again crashed in the balance beam. They could not fight back from this downfall. Probably that is why fans felt all the more happy for Weir whom they love to see winning. Here is another comment that reflected nothing but pride while writing, “proud of u!!!!!”. Lastly, the fan echoed a huge sentiment mentioning, “WINNE“. Without any doubt, fans are excited to watch her making big and make Mizzou proud. Are you excited to watch her winning the championships with Mizzou?
