Suni Lee, the reigning Olympic all-around gymnastics gold medalist faced a setback during the 2023 Gymnastics World Championships when she developed a recurrent kidney problem which also caused the discontinuance of her college gymnastics in Auburn. As a result of this health condition, Lee added forty-five pounds over the course of the year, which was mentally uncomfortable for her due to clothing fit problems and swollen eyes and very challenging to her athletics career.

Nevertheless, such formidable barriers were not able to deter the hard spirit of Lee who bounced back and mirrored those outstanding performances at the Tokyo Olympics. In an attempt to recover, Lee claimed that it was through deliberate changes in diet with other training schedule overhauls.

Suni Lee-Ready for Paris 2024

Recently, Suni Lee uploaded several photos on Instagram and it seemed she is all ready for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. In the first photograph, she appeared confident wearing the Team USA leotard, which embodies American pride. The leotard features a design akin to the nation’s flag, with bold red and white stripes adorning the upper part and a field of stars against a navy background, symbolizing unity and strength. She held her victorious hand gesture in the air with a bright smile on her face, depicting strong health and determination. She captioned it as, ‘On Film’.

The second picture, despite being candid and a little bit blurred, had real smiles all over representing a clear state of satisfaction in Lee?s contagious laughter. Indeed, the last picture which was surely the best featured Lee portraying a grin that could not be matched by anybody, and wearing an appropriate fitted leotard meant that she was ready for Paris 2024.

Balancing training and Well-being

Suni Lee stated that she was okay with her health as she adopted a new approach to gymnastics training. She was also making sure that the bad days did not outweigh the good and that when good days came they helped her focus on fundamentals as well. Due to this suddenness and fear of sickness, Lee was careful when he resumed competing in August, winning a bronze medal on the balance beam at the United States title meet.

Instead of going for a hobble-back start in intensity for the Olympic year, she decided to prioritize her health and attend the world championships team selection camp that was extended as an invitation to her.
