Olivia Dunne’s injury scare has been keeping her at bay for the last several seasons. For a standout gymnast who earns over USD 3 million because of her NIL deals, the injury could inflict a darker shade on the career. So, when in a TikTok conversation, a fan asked her about trying the double layout on the gymnastic mat, the 21-year-old LSU Tigers queen couldn’t give a firm reply. Rather, she opted to pray for “staying in one piece til the end of szn.” Olivia Dunne must have remembered her painful encounter with injuries from the last season.

In the initial part of 2023, Olivia Dunne missed the events because of her injury, faced in the first week of December 2022. In her resting period for six weeks, the gymnast completely avoided the mat, spending time mostly by wrapping her foot in a special boot. Now, on the anniversary of that fateful occurrence, Olivia Dunne has again raised the topic by sharing her unique training apparatus.

Recently she recalled a brutal fall from the uneven bars she suffered last year as she returned to practice after a foot injury. However, along with that, she also shared a clip of her impeccable landing after a bar routine to showcase how far she has come toward perfection. As the Tigers are bound to compete against Arkansas, California, and Stanford in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 18, this reminder should be reassuring for the fans. Amid this, in a recent Snapchat share, Livvy showcased her undergoing a test session to examine the well-being of her feet writing, “post practice recovery[emoji]”.

In this season as well, the social media-famed gymnast missed several matches. Moreover, in the rest of her gymnastic matches, she didn’t take part in all the schedules. That fact solidified her injury scare in the ongoing season. But Livvy’s latest Snapchat drop has attested to her grit to defeat the grueling injury scare. However, in the past, she couldn’t counter the effects of an injury completely.

Did a brutal fall end Olivia Dunne’s Olympic dream?

In a brief conversation with SportsCenter, Olivia Dunne once narrated her encounter with injury in gymnastics. I’ve dealt with shoulder pain, torn labrums, shin splints, shin pain, stress fractures, broken ankles,” she confessed. Moreover, her Olympic dream was once crushed after an injury that suffered through a ruptured bone in her ankle. Since then, Olivia Dunne chose not to shift her focus to the grueling elite gymnastics from the college one. She later also vowed to avoid the elite gymnastics path completely. Staying true to that, now her concentration is fully on the NCAA gymnastics semifinal round.

In describing the value of the national championship to the Tigers camp, she termed it as “unprecedented”. “It would mean the world to this team and this university,” Olivia Dunne claimed. So her present preparation proves those lines where the gymnast is keeping her up to the level, dismissing the injury mark.
